The Cat That Thought It Was a Dog

There once was a cat named Whiskers who lived with a family that also had a big dog named Max. Whiskers wasn’t like other cats—he always seemed to copy everything Max did.

Max loved chasing balls, so one day, when the kids threw a ball, Whiskers ran after it too! He didn’t pounce like a cat, though—he tried to bring the ball back, just like Max. But instead of picking it up in his mouth, he rolled it with his paws, looking very serious.

Whiskers also liked to bark. Well, he tried to bark. It came out more like a weird, croaky “meow-woof,” but Whiskers seemed proud of himself. He even wagged his tail when he was happy, just like Max.

One morning, the family was walking Max in the park. Whiskers followed along, thinking he was part of the dog crew. When they reached the park, Whiskers saw Max chase after a squirrel. Naturally, Whiskers joined in, but instead of chasing the squirrel, he climbed up the nearest tree—then looked down, realizing dogs don’t do that.

The family laughed, and Whiskers just blinked, clearly confused. It didn’t matter to him, though. In his mind, Whiskers was the best “dog” in the house!
